Iran, Azerbaijan agree on banking cooperation

Economy ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan agreed Monday on enhancement of mutual monetary, banking and financial cooperation as well as joint efforts to give a boost to economic cooperation, particularly in completion of South-North Corridor.

IRNA – Expansion of relations with neighboring countries, Azerbaijan in particular, is among strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian Economy Minister Farhad Dejpasand said during a meeting in Tehran with his Azeri counterpart Shahin Mustafayev.
He said that Azerbaijan has a special place in Iran’s foreign policy.
The Azeri minister, for his part, voiced his country’s readiness to help complete the remaining parts of the Rasht-Astara railway project.
Mustafayev welcomed the 74% growth in trade exchanges between Iran and Azerbaijan which he said amounted to $450 million last year.
